About DCAA

Formerly Abington Dolphins, Dolphins Community Aquatics Association (DCAA) has been located in Upper Moreland Township in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania since 2009. DCAA is a not-for-profit, parent-governed aquatics program focused on amateur swimming and diving for children, ages 6 to 18.

A community-oriented program, DCAA takes great pride in the development of all its swimmers and divers, providing instruction to enable each child to be the best he or she can be. DCAA has approximately 140 members and aims to keep the athlete to coach ratio at a manageable and safe level as instruction is important to our program; therefore, we maintain a ratio of no more than 12:1, usually less.

New techniques are continually assessed for use with longstanding results, allowing each athlete to achieve his or her highest level of personal success. Practices include drills and yardage in the water, along with core strengthening and land conditioning based appropriately on the age and maturity of the athlete. Nutritional guidance is also discussed and encouraged. Our coaches look to provide positive individual feedback while emphasizing a synergistic team-oriented approach.

Over the years, DCAA has produced competitive swimmers at all levels, including sending swimmers and divers to Suburban Aquatic League Division and League Champs, and more advanced swimmers to Middle Atlantic Elite Meet, Middle Atlantic Junior Olympics, Middle Atlantic Senior Champs, and Eastern Zone Age Group and Open Water Championships.

Practices are conducted Monday through Friday in the evening hours. DCAA practices 10 months out of each year, September through July. From September to June, DCAA practices at Upper Moreland Middle School’s 25-yard pool.

Under USA Swimming, the governing body of swimming in the United States, and Suburban Aquatic League, the local swimming and diving organization, DCAA focuses on athletic advancement while providing a family-oriented atmosphere. DCAA invites all residents of surrounding townships to learn more about aquatic offerings in our community.
